First Mobile I ever Created – Updated

This color scheme was the first wool felt baby mobile I ever created! And this continue to be one of the favorites in my shop! Because of a client’s custom request to have felt leaves adorn the wooden ring on the outside…I’m now adding it to my shop because the addition makes it so sweet. But I do love it with the natural bamboo showing too. Can’t decide. That is life.

And below is a new one I just created! I do love the addition of the hanging tassels. So dreamy right?!? With colored walls this one will sure stand out! I just need to find or create a nursery to showcase these beauties! I’m open to suggestions. 🙂

Thanks for sticking with me while I go on and on about these mobiles! I haven’t follow thru with my internal goal for this blog…to write about different themes/adventures as I would like to. I hope to change that soon. 🙂

Outdoor Nursery

I finally was able to repaint the crib white donated by my generous cousin! I can’t believe it cost her $500! I still need some wooden dowels to make it easier to take apart once I take it on the road with me. My next venue, hopefully, is the Fountains in Roseville, First Friday of every month. I also need to create a makeshift mattress for decorative purposes!  These pictures were taken in my backyard…so there wasn’t a lot of empty greenery space as I would like…but it will do for now. I love how these mobiles look in a natural environment especially since they are created to resemble the beauty of all the flowers and plants around us. I wonder how interior spaces affects babies and their cognitive abilities. I know parents create nursery spaces mainly for them because let’s face it…newborns can’t really admire all the furniture in their room…but I do wonder…what they absorb in their surroundings. I know certain colors create peace and calm, while others excite.

I also placed postcards on the parking lot of Babies R Us which I’ve never done before since I feel kind of ridiculous or maybe I feel like it’s soliciting. But I’m glad I did it…who knows maybe something will come out of it.

Tomorrow, June 8th will be the anniversary of the day I quit my job a year ago. I can’t believe how time has passed. It has been an adventure for sure. Full of challenges and doubts. It was hard (and still) adapting to the financial aspect, of not having the same income level, of budgeting and not being able to spend like I was used to, but it many ways it has taught me so much, of who I want to be, who I am. Despite all that, there has never been any regrets. It has definitely made me a more creative person! Instead of just jotting down ideas, I actually have time to follow through on them. The hardest lesson I’ve learned, still learning, is that it doesn’t have to be perfect to put it out there. You can always fine-tuned it down the line. Don’t let that fear, that desire for perfection, stop you from putting it out there! You hear me, Ca?!?! LOL. I’m so proud of you for finally taking that leap to create your clothing line! I’m excited to see it on etsy.

New Baby Mobiles Design and Colors

I’ve been on a storm creating these baby mobiles…starting below with one of the popular colors’ scheme with a twist…flowers and leaves on the bamboo hoop. I think I like the addition of the blooms around the hoop!

My new favorite! With light pink/peach cabbage roses, baby roses, baby breath, and mixed of foliage surrounding a bamboo hoop, this enchanting baby mobile will look so beautiful in a baby girl nursery. White leather string adds a bohemian flair to this romantic baby decor.

Custom Colors to match a client’s baby girl blanket. Love this color combination!

My mom’s favorite! She loves this out of all the baby mobiles I’ve created for clients. 🙂 Mom and her color purple. I like too many different color combinations that I can never decide. If I ever have a house, I’m sure my rooms will have soo many different themes. I’m not kidding. 🙂

Road Trip to Canada and bordering states….

Last week I took a road trip to some parts of Canada with a friend. We flew into Montreal and drove straight to Quebec…which took about 3 hrs. By the time, we got there it was in the evening time so we walked around our hotel area which had lots of unique coffee shops, but unfortunately it was Sunday so it closed early. We had dinner at this Vietnamese/Thai fusion because after many layovers and long flights, nice warm pho broth sounds real good especially since it was in the 50s. Too bad, the food was not good. Flavorless broth…oh well…that’s what we get for ordering Vietnamese food in Quebec. LOL. The next morning we spent half a day at Old Quebec…favorite part of the city/province? We parked out car at the Port of Quebec as you can see below it still icy out in the water.

Old Quebec as promised, has the charm of those European cities on the other side of the pond. Quaint buildings and flowerpots and cobblestone streets/alleys makes me happy! 🙂

Ate lunch of escargots and smoked salmon salad here. Sunny day with heat lamp makes for an enjoyable lunch. Not a lot of people out this time of the year.

See? Deserted alleyway!

After Quebec we drove to Montreal and stayed next to the Olympic Stadium, no events happening there unfortunately. We didn’t really get to explore Montreal because we had to head out early to get to Toronto/Niagara Falls which is a 6+ hour drive and had to make it back in time to switch cars to drive over to the states. Apparently it’s cheaper if you rent a car within Canada, but as soon as you make it over to the states, prices doubled! So that’s why we had to rent two different cars. We just barely make it around Chinatown in Toronto before heading to Niagara Falls. It was sunny that afternoon/evening…fortunately for us, because my traveling companion did not pack her jacket! Once we got to Horseshoe Falls, it was crazy wet though! lol. Love the mist. Such an amazing sight to behold. Hauntingly beautiful in its velocity and pure volume of water cascading/thundering down.

And that concludes the Canada portion of our road trip. I wished we had more time to really explore Canada…but that’s where next time come into play, right? Note: Montreal to Toronto, the road we drove was pretty uneventful…nothing appealing to stop by.

Changed car in Buffalo, New York and proceeded to drive to New Jersey to meet up with the rest of our traveling companions. It was rainy that day so the drive was dreary and blistery. We stayed the night in Travose, New Jersey for the night and headed to Philadelphia the next morning. Had my first taste of authentic Philly cheese steak and it did not disappoint! I had mine with provolone cheese and onions! Yummmmmyy. Too bad it was a big sandwich and I couldn’t finish it and no microwave in hotel room so couldn’t even save it. 😦 I heard they’re not good afterwards anyways…at least that’s what I’m telling myself. Tried to go to the Art Museum with the famous “Rocky” steps but it was closed off because of the NFL Draft happening that day! Onwards to Jersey Shore! We got there when it was evening time so it was foggy and misty…but the sand and water is clean and beautiful nevertheless. I love the ocean, shoreline, body of water and try to go there, in any country, or state, any chance I can get, regardless of the weather. I remembered once driving 8 hours to and from in Costa Rica, just to take in the ocean breeze and water on my feet. My traveling companions at the time was not so keen. Anyways, back to present day New Jersey. Next day, took a shuttle from the hotel to New York and walked downtown in crazy Time Square and Central Park. Feels like San Francisco to me. But more crowded. Took a free ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. One of my must visit place on this trip was the World Trade Center Memorial Site or Ground Zero as they called it. So beautiful and sad. I keep meaning to look up the architect behind the design because it is eerily beautiful with the water cascading down.

All in all, a short but fast paced road trip. I definitely needed another vacation after that. Til next time, dear readers!

Do you have any upcoming adventures in the works? I sure hope you do!

Custom Tropical Baby Mobile

Recently I had a client requesting a special custom order for their little girl’s nursery. It is going to be a green tropical inspired room and they wanted something one of a kind for her. Below are some images of the finished product. I’m so happy how it turned out that I’m adding it to my shop as well! Did I mentioned I reallllly enjoyed creating custom items for clients? Such a rewarding and humbling experience when I hear back from a client telling me how much they adored their purchase/baby mobile! In this day and age, people are more likely to leave a negative review when they are disappointed with a product but rarely leave a positive review if they are happy with a product. I admit I’m one of those people! But since opening my etsy shop recently, I realized how important and crucial those reviews can be to a startup business that I make sure to leave a review whenever I make a purchase, especially to a small company. Karma right?

I just got back from a Canada/New Jersey/Philadelphia/New York Road Trip and I’m going to share some highlights and photos on the next post. Stay tuned! And thanks for stopping by!

Spring Blossom Laser Cut Wedding Invitation Suite

This is probably my FAVORITE wedding suite I design to date. Ask me again in several months and my answer might change. 🙂 I’ve always been a big fan of laser cut and this floral one is simply beautiful! It has a shimmery incandescent sheen to it. It is printed on a shimmery metallic light peach/coral paper. It’s adorned with a wax seal which are reminiscent of letter writing of old. I’ve enclosed this entire suite inside a white translucent vellum envelope so the viewers can get a glimpse of what’s to come.

This entire suite, along with the wedding favors seed packets and dessert toppers are available on my shop! Please visit the shop section or click on this link to view it on my etsy shop.

Traditional Vietnamese/Chinese Wedding Gowns for your Wine Bottle!

If you’re looking for something special to add to your traditional vietnamese/chinese wedding ceremoney…these wine covers wedding gowns will definitely be a statement piece! These will be beautiful gifts for the groom’s family to bring to the bride’s family (per Vietnamese tradition). Please message me if you are interested in purchasing any of these outfits! They are not listed on my etsy shop because I am not skilled in the art of sewing…unless you count sewing on buttons!

G L A S S V I A L S | Wedding Favors

Can you tell these are my new wedding favors obsession?!?! I love finding new items that I can put into these little glass vials. So far I have a beach theme, a garden theme, and a spa theme (perfect for bachelorette favors for spa retreat!). I’m sure there are sooo many other things you can fill these with that will go great with your wedding theme. I’m thinking breath mints with a “Mint to be” signage or as thank you (no really thank you…it’s a gift for us both lol). Yes I can go on. The bottom image is filled with lavender, rose clay, pink himlayan salts, and tiny rosebuds. Perfect size for a nice relaxing bath!

These are my garden theme and are filled with pebbles, moss, and silk flower. These glass vials are like dreams in a bottle. Something from the apothecary.

Bohemian Vibes

I saw this bohemian canopy at Cost Plus World Market for $49.99 but with my $10.00 off Explorer coupon I couldn’t resist! SCORE! I’m just loving the bohemian feel of this bedroom setup with my wool felt flowers garland and the wall hanging decor. The muslin material of the canopy is sheer so it’s light and airy. So dreamy and ethereal right?!? Both the wall hanging and flower garland is available in my etsy shop if you wanted to recreate this look. 🙂
